You may end up getting to the rental car office to find out there is an extra charge for the Airport pick up or a one-way fee will be added to the hire sometimes you may even be required to pay extra if you are under the age of 25 (Pacific Auto Rentals age limit is 18 with no extra fees) All rental car companies require a credit card or a bond, this is always stated in the fine print so save yourself from awkward extra fees at the rental counter and read the terms and conditions before collecting your rental. When collecting your rental make sure to read your contract before signing as there is often a lot of important information such as extra fees that will be charged if the rental is returned not full, late or damaged etc.

TRAVEL IN THE OFFSEASON

If you have the freedom to travel when you want then picking the offseason is the easiest way to save money. If you will be hiring a rental car for a long period of time or you will be collecting rentals all around the country the best way to save is BUY your extras. Simply pick up a sim card that offers a great 3g data pack this way you will be able to use your phone as a GPS instead of hiring one saving you up to $10 a day! When picking your travel insurance make sure to pick a company that covers the excess of your rental in the event of an accident, you will probably still need a rental with free standard insurance as some excesses can be more than the amount your travel will cover you for.
